Welcome back to another installment of the Rooted Minds Blog’s Spotlight Feature, where we shine a light on creatives, artists, and entrepreneurs that are making strides to take their careers to the next level. In addition to that it is a space where we can celebrate the success stories of members of our community, friends, and newly discovered creatives.
Up next, we have an artist currently in Phoenix, Arizona working to make his dream a reality and spread his message and art across the globe. He was first brought to our attention by our brother StoneOnSax and then later referred for this interview by DUBEU.
KiddFriendly is building community in Arizona through shows and art, so let's take a deeper look into his life's story, passion, and creative journey. He is also curating his own version of commercials for local businesses where he raps about the business sharing that information with his following. Remember to stream and share some of his music, as we work to find ways to support the many various artists we have coming out of the area.
BIO: Deyton Jackson (KiddFriendly) is a 23-year-old with talent far beyond his years. At 13 years he began to meditate to cure the mental disorders that plagued him throughout his childhood. Not only was he a spiritual voyager, but he also was an All-State Football player. In 2016, he accepted a full-ride scholarship to Marshall University. After losing interest in sports because of a deep love for spirituality, his longing to learn more about life brought him to Northern Arizona University where he would go on to graduate with a Communications Degree. Since accomplishing a bachelor's degree, Deyton has been working with an upcoming mediation center in Phoenix, AZ called the "Ascension Chamber". He has been helping develop the OBE Chamber, the social media presence, and has also been practicing his spiritual gifts on the customers who need grounding & guidance before their meditation journey in the Tesla Coil infested geodesic dome. On top of being an athlete and a spiritual explorer, he is also a Rap Savant. He is an employee of the largest music show in Arizona history "Poetic Soul" where he has attracted the interest of Grammy Nominated Artists "London On the Track" & "Summer Walker", as well as Def Jam President Tuo Clarke. Currently, he is on sabbatical while playing football as a grad student at Limestone University in South Carolina.

RM: What has been your journey to being in the field that you’re in today? (Artist, Musician, Athlete, Entrepreneur, Business Owner, Creative, Etc.) What has been the most impactful lesson that you've learned?
KF: The most impactful lesson I have learned is holding my tongue! I have learned to be quiet and invite wisdom to rule my life. I can’t correct a fool. Wise people thank you for the correction. I keep great people around me who see me for who I am.. other than remaining a mystery is important.
RM: For those who may not know, how did you develop the name or concept for your business or project?
KF: The entity of Kids At Heart was manifested through my love for cultivating the innocence of children.
RM: 1) Tell us about your inspiration behind an upcoming project. 2) What do you hope to accomplish and what do you hope people take away from it?
KF: “Holy Spirit Fire” which was dropped in Summer 2022 was inspired by my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I want people to experience the worship of God through Hip Hop music!
RM: What have been some effective ways that you've marketed yourself in your space and industry?
KF: I believe that expanding my territory has been the most effective way to spread the Word through my music and through the vibrations that I put out into the universe! Physically interacting with people and spaces that typically would be marked off to people with closed perceptions has helped me break out of my own shell and continue to release who I think I am for who God wants me to be!
RM: How have you grown as an entrepreneur or creative in the last 5 years and who's been influential in that process?
KF: I have grown the most by inviting the healing of the Holy Spirit. The better I feel spiritually, the more authentic and creative my music has been.
RM: What are some short-term goals that you are working towards, that friends and supporters can help you with?
KF: I am working on community work! Currently doing much-needed underground growing! Church concerts are in the works!
RM: What are one or two things that keep you grounded? How do you practice good self-care or how can you practice it better (if you've been lacking in that area)?
KF: The Bible, prayer, meditation, working out, and spending time with family truly save my life day in and day out!
RM: What are some words of wisdom or encouragement for upcoming creative entrepreneurs that you'd like to share?
KF: Using the gift God has put inside of you and being disciplined in business will keep you sustained for your entire life!
RM: What has been the best piece of advice you have ever received in reference to your career and industry?
KF: You get out what you put in…
